STUDIES
Ioannis is currently Assistant Professor at the Department of Economic Studies of the University G. d'Annunzio of Chieti-Pescara in Italy. He works in the area of Life Cycle Assessment and particularly in the Food Sector, also under the Italian Project: Ecomanagement for Food (EMAF) (Sep 2010-Sep 2012), and in the Tourism Sector. He acquired his PhD in "Innovation, Accounting, Environment and Finance". His PhD topic was "Life Cycle Assessment in the Agri-Food Sector: Tools and Simplification possibilities". In the framework of his PhD studies, he also had a 5-month visiting period at the UNESCO Chair in Life Cycle and Climate Change (Barcelona, Spain), where he focused mainly on the field of Carbon Footprint.
Initially, he pursued the Integrated MSc in Mechanical Engineering/Energy Resources Management Engineering (1999-2004) at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki/University of Western Macedonia in Kozani, Greece. His specialisation (last two years) was on Energy and the Environment.
Later on, Ioannis pursued an MSc in Environmental Strategy (2008-2009) at the University of Surrey in Guildford, United Kingdom. His thesis topic was "Are the Producer Responsibility Compliance Systems for End-of-Life Vehicles achieving goals of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and leading to Sustainable Development?”.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Furthermore, Ioannis worked for the Institute for Environment and Sustainability of the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission (Ispra, Italy) (2009-2010) in the Life Cycle Assessment group and in the field of "Environmental Policies and Instruments in the framework of Sustainable Consumption and Production".
He worked as a post-doc Research Fellow at the Department of Economic Studies of the University G. d'Annunzio of Chieti-Pescara in Italy (Sep 2014 - Jul 2019).
In addition, he participated in several traineeships:
researcher at the Institute of Physical Chemistry of the National Centre for Scientific Research “Demokritos”, Athens, Greece (Jul-Aug 2002), and
trainee engineer in the field of Production and Transfer of Electricity at the Public Organisation of Power Production, Amynteon, Greece (Jul-Sep 2003).
